The fledgling cub is forced to flee from his home and goes into self-imposed banishment lasting a long period of time. While away in the forest, he encounters new friends, Timon and Pumbaa, who live a worry-free lifestyle and influence him to do the same. the young prince's happy-go-lucky mindset then takes a turn when he once more chances upon his childhood confidant Nala, who reveals the tyranny of Scar to him and asks him to retake his rightful place as king.

This incredibly powerful story of heartbreak, true friendship, and fearless leadership is amplified by the original film's music, created by Elton John and Tim Rice. Their original songs, coupled with additional songs and lyrics from the likes of Zimmer, Lebo M, Mark Mancina, Jay Rifkin, and director Julie Taymor have improved and elevated the quality of the show not just in local performances, but also in Europe and Asia performances.
